Program:
LTC 911
How do you plan for long term care in a crisis when there is no LTC Insurance?
Our presentation will discuss and examine crisis planning when long-term care is needed and various asset protection strategies clients may wish to consider prior to applying for Medicaid.
The basic Medicaid rules and guidelines will be discussed including exempt and nonexempt income and assets. A brief case study will be used to demonstrate use of the Medicaid Qualification Worksheet to determine how long before Medicaid eligibility will occur if someone needs a nursing home and how to get through any penalty period created by any uncompensated transfers. Various strategies using irrevocable trusts, Medicaid compliant annuities and promissory notes will be discussed.
Questions will be encouraged throughout the presentation.
